    Samsung Epic 4G vs Blackberry Torch 9800

    Samsung Epic 4G will feature a 4-inch (480 x 800) AMOLED display compared to BlackBerry Torch 9800's smaller screen of 3.2-inch (480x360) HVGA+ touch-screen.

    The operating system used by Samsung Epic 4G is Android 2.1, which will most probably be upgraded by the company to Android 2.2. And consumers can have access to more than 70,000 Google apps. unlike BlackBerry Torch which features the BlackBerry OS 6 and close to 8,000 BlackBerry App World apps.

    The Samsung Hummingbird processor has 1GHz speed with equally capable graphics, especially suitable for online games. BlackBerry Torch 9800 uses Marvell processor with a speed of 624 MHz. Moreover, Samsung Epic 4G will support 3-D graphics with faster upload and download times.

    In terms of memory, Samsung Epic 4G offers 512 MB RAM / 512 MB ROM similar to Blackberry Torch 9800.

    And the BlackBerry Torch 9800 has 5-megapixel camera which gives 640x480 VGA video captures compared to Epic 4G’s 1280x720 HD video capture.

    The Wi-Fi offered by Samsung Epic 4G is 802.11b/g/n which is also offered by BlackBerry Torch 9800.

    When it comes to battery, Samsung’s smartphone features a huge 1500 mAh Li – Ion battery compared BlackBerry Torch’s 1300 mAh Li-Ion battery.

    And Samsung’s smartphone weighs 5.46 oz which is lesser than BlackBerry’s smartphone weighing at 5.68 oz.

    The official carrier of BlackBerry is AT&T and is set to be released on August 12, 2010. And the Samsung Epic 4G is expected to be released towards the end of August and the official carrier is Sprint, whose 4G is capable of faster wireless connectivity with download speeds of up to 10 times faster than 3G.
