Try not using WiFi or video if your out and about. You can also unsync your google account and turn off GPS until you need it. Just to name some ways.
I go to settings a lot turn everything off that isn't needed. I also have JuiceDefender looking after things, though I'm not sure it's any better than what I can do myself. GPS, wifi, bluetooth, etc., suck up battery power. I use Airplane Mode, too, if not using the phone as a phone. I'm usually sort of heavy handed here, since most apps that need something turned on will tell me so.
You can turn down your screen brightness to the lowest level you can tolerate. The "auto" setting may do this okay, but at night, i find that a lower setting is better.
If your phone is rooted, consider an overclock app such as QuickClock, and then, contrary to the 21st century dictum of speed = good, underclock the CPU. I'm running my 1000mhz CPU at 800mhz. So far, the speeds have been fine.
Get a bigger battery, or build a battery pack that can supply a couple of extra charge cycles. I use 4 AA NiMH batteries attached to a home-made usb dongle. Is good for two charges (charging the battery from 50 per cent up to 100 per cent).
I download a battery-saver off the market called "Green Power Free." It works amazing on my Ally so give it a shot and let me know how it works!

Download juice defender from the market and turn off data by pursuing and holding the power off button for three seconds.you will have no problem with battery life after this! Then just turn on data only when you need it

Juice defender is useless. There's nothing it can do that you can't do manually, and by doing it manually you're not hitting the battery up by having a process running all the time.
