Contacts Management
Can anybody help me please?
My daughter has just bought me a GT-S5830i, trying to bring me into the digital age! However, am I the only one who would like to be able to scroll through the contacts on my phone by alphabetic order of SURNAME? The phone does not seem to have any way to allow you to set this. I have asked Samsung and they just suggest using a third party app however, due to "impartiallity", they decline to recommend one!
I'm getting too long in the tooth for all this hassle; has anyone got a simple solution, please?

Welcome to the forum!
I am not familiar with that phone, but I know that in the People app (ICS & JB) which is the same as the Contacts app from GB and older that I can tap the menu key, go to the Settings section and under Display Options I can choose how to sort the list.
Does your phone have this option in Contacts/People?

Many thanks Frederuco. Problem solved!! My contacts are now listed and displayed in surname order, just the way old fogeys like me are used to.
What amazes me is that the techies at samsung were not able to suggest the way to do this and basically just told me that it cannot be done on this phone!
Always trust the users rather than the makers to actually KNOW how something works!
Are you any good on problems with bluetooth connectivity?
I have a SEAT ALTEA with built in bluetooth. Their bluetooth compatability brochure does not list the GT-S5830i specifically, but it does list the GT-S5830 as being fully compatible, including access to contacts lists on both the phone and sim card. Guess what, although my GT-S5830i pairs with the car's bluetooth with no problem, the car tells me that it cannot load my phone book. The people at Samsung have, again, been pretty useless on this and the jury's out at the moment on the SEAT techies, to whom I have also addressed the problem.
If yiou or anyone else has any ideas about this, I'd be most grateful to hear them.
