Galaxy mini: No contact with PC (Kies) after upgrade to Android 2.3.4

I have been using Kies and a USB cable to connect my Galaxy Mini to my PC without any problem, until I upgraded my Galaxy Mini to Gingerbread. The funny thing is that I made the upgrade through Kies. But after the phone restarted I have no connection anymore. When i insert the USB cable the phone charges but I do not see the "USB" icon anymore. Kies says that there is no phone connected.

I reinstalled the driver, I instructed Kies to try to repair the connection. Nothing helped.

Any suggestion? Is there anything that needs to be activated or installed on the phone side?
