this is my first update and first time to connect my phone to kies...
what does it mean? is it with the memory card? i only have 2 gig memory card..
should i buy bigger one?

Probably you have already sorted this out in the meantime, but anyway. Those 3GB space that KIES is needing, are required on your computer hard disk.
As far as updating your factory Froyo 2.2 to Gingerbread, I would strongly suggest that you stay right where you are. I have updated my phone last week and I am very sorry that I did that. My phone is now MUCH slower in every aspect, some applications are not working like they used to on Froyo, and so on. No gain at all. So reconsider updating, at least for now. Maybe you (and me, apparently) should wait for some newer version of Gingerbread, as this version (2.3.5) sucks. At least on my Galaxy Mini...
