New to Android, have a few questions...

    Hello All,

I am new to Android, well I had the G1 way back when but have been an iPhone user for years and have decided to make the jump to Android. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note and have a few questions I am hoping you can help me with.

    1) I plugged it in to my Macbook Pro last night, it was not immediately recognized, I looked online I figured out how to display as a USB mass storage device so I did that, is there another or more efficient way I should be doing this?

    2) I moved music files in to the USB mass storage folder, how can I get them to be recognized by a music app (using Music or Double Twist) so I do not have to go through the My Files app and select songs to play one by one?

I am sure I will have more questions as I play with it some more, but thats it for now. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,
    ASeedhouse

Welcome. I put mine in the /music folder. If there's not one just create it.

Thanks for the quick reply, so you have a music folder showing when you have it connected as a USB Mass Storage device? Should I create the folder in with the other sub folders (Applications, Android, Bluetooth etc.) or create it inside the USB Storage file? Thanks again for your help.

Create it in the root of the memory. When you open the mass storage there should be a bunch of folders like /Android, /Data, /DCIM, etc. Create the folder there.

Ok I am setting that up now, just transferring the files. Then it should be automatically recognized when I open the music player app? Thanks again, you have been a great help.

It should be. Most music apps scan the /music folder. If not, download SD Rescan from the play store, run it, and then the music should appear.
