Photo Gallery - Help! or Does Anyone Know of a Better One?

Only had the Galaxy Note for a few days and generally very impressed so far - but not with the photo gallery - photos and viewing images being one of the main reasons for chooseing this phone.

This was the scenario leading to this post:

I tansferred the SD Card from a previous phone and was pleased to see all my images automatically displayed.
Then I went to my audio magazine and music files and they worked too - with one issue (I will raise that in a separate post).
Next I wanted to show a specific image to a friend and no way could I find it - it was most embarrasing.

I could not believe that there seems to be no way to scan quickly though all the images - they are all grouped in 'piles' (by months or something). It seems you have to open each 'pile' before you can see the images. Making it worse, all my audio files images (hundreds) are scattered through the gallery!
On my previous Nokia phone, music album images did not appear and images could be viewed in one long file or by user created albums.

    Two questions:
Is there any way to view all images in one long stream and without audio/music imagery?

Assuming the answer is no - Can someone recommend an image viewer where this is possible?

    Hello! to the forum!

The Android OS sorts photos based on what folder they're in. If you wish to see all of them in the same "pile" you'll need to move all the photos on the SD card into the same folder -- preferably the Camera folder inside the DCIM folder. After all, that's where any pictures you take with the camera will be dropped.

As for the media files scattered throughout, well, that's a new one on me.

I always thought that QuikPic free on the market is a lot better than the stock one. It also has many feature and configurations that just sets it apart from the rest.

    -end of line-

Probably a better way to go.

Thank you both for your replies. I had already installed QuickPix but thought it had the same issues. However the comment about all the photos being in the Camera folder solved the problem of seeing them together in both viewers. The standard viewer still has the music album art problem though, And with no way to hide them, each image being in it's own folder, so hundreds of folders! QuickPix allows me to hide the music player folder from the viewer,
    So they all disappear.

Compared with QuickPix the standard viewer has a long way to go, having virtually now configuration options at all while QuickPix seem almost unlimited.

Thanks again for your comments, between the two my problems were solved.

Now for the music player issue (in a separate post).

The Gallery loads ALL images on the SD card, so if you downloaded album art it'll show up in there, yes.

Glad to hear you got stuff figured out, though!
