Ringer Volume Control Issue
I have recently switched from Nokia phones to the Galaxy Note and am finding some controls frustrating, especially the ringer voluume, agrivated by it being opposite the Power On/off key. (Also no camera key - so no quick photos anymore
)
The problem is, virtually every time I use the phone, I manage to turn the ringer volume off or full on - the result being missed calls or embaressment. Being opposte the power off (or sleep) it is almost impossible to 'sleep' the phone without also touching the volumne control.
So to the questions:
Is there a way to disable the Ringer Volume so that it only uses the default volume setting?
Is there any way to 'sleep' the phone (lock or turn the display off) without pressing the Power button?
Are there any apps that may control these buttons better?

Put "screen off and lock" app on you homescreen. You can lock the screen w//o touching the power button.

I had exactly the same problem and I too came from a Nokia phone.
The above app is the go and makes the phone audible.

Unfortunately, I tried the app-supported version, Volume Control +, but setting the Volume lock (even going into Settings and specifically settting it in for each volume type) doesn't prevent me from accidentally changing the volume with the hardware buttons on the left side of the phone.
If I find an app that works to disable the hw buttons, I'll post it here.

I could do this easily on my Blackberry and find it annoying that I can't on this way superior phone otherwise. I am constantly hitting that button and jacking up my volume settings.

Not On The Galaxy S3 It Can't
The button controls in Tasker don't work on the S3.
I am now using Volume Locker so that at least when I accidentally push the button, the volume reverts to its previous setting.
