Android.net is the premier Android Forum on the internet.
The only way I was successful was to use a Bluetooth connection. I could not get the USB cable to work at all, except to charge the phone.
Otherwise I converted my contacts to a file and then copied it to the SD card that I took out of my phone and plugged it into the PC.
You would expect something like Nokia Ovi to back up the phone contents, contacts, photos etc but if the Samsung Kies equivalent will not even connect what hope is there? I have seen people suggest ODIN but that is a flash upgrade program, not the same at all so that is a silly suggestion.
i use logmein ignition as a remote desktop. works well on my DROIDX and XOOM
I have a solution. Make sure your Kies Air APP is running on your phone and displays the URL address. On your PC go into your internet map. Kies Air and your Phone model should be displayed as an Icon. Double left click on the icon and wait for your connection to load on the PC. It works on the Galaxy S2. I have 64bit windows 7. I could not connect by typing in the URL address.
You cannot do it typing the URL address in the browser
