Question Best Anti-Virus Out There ?

Hi everyone , I've been searching for the best option in order to keep my phone protected from malware (...and others).....I've seen Avast and looks fair (includes an anti-theft option)..... What do you think?...has someone proved this anti-virus?...will make my skyrocket sluggish?

Note: It seems that some of the advanced configurations options need a "super user" permission....and don't know if the others Anti-virus softwares need this also.

    Thanks!

    Sorry for my English

Hi Tomcat, and welcome to the forum - we are delighted to have you as a member!

Your question is a good one, but the answer is not all that simple. The whole area of virus/malware on Android phones is still subject to debate. Many people have spent time and money (and space on their phones) installing an antivirus. They then feel more secure from infection - and they may be right. Many other people see no reason at this stage of the game to go that far, and are perfectly happy to go through the day without that protection on their phones.

Who's right and who's wrong? Hard to say. I don't personally have an antivirus protector on either of my three phones, because I don't see a compelling NEED for it right now - the end of March, 2012. Time and events may change my opinion, but for now I'll pass on the protection afforded by those products. Should you do the same? That's up to you. If you worry a lot, by all means install one of the several products available. Their presence on your phone certainly won't *hurt* anything, and may prove useful down the road in case you actually do run into the virus the program is designed to protect you from.

In any event, welcome to the forum!

i think Avast is better than AVG.....i think it scans for rootkits or something that AVG doesn't do...i can't remember exactly, but you can compare their features for yourself on their sites...i just remember that Avast did something AVG didn't.

I use the Lookout app, doesn't seem to suck much battery or impact performance. Also has a Backup feature and Missing Device feature.

I have been using Comodo Mobile Security and it works very well. I wish I could use the anti-theft features but I have no texting plan on my phone.

I use VirusSeeker Mobile Security and its the fastest antivirus scanner out there. Some neat anti-theft features too but it misses backup.

Best antivirus for Android? Whatever one makes you feel safe and secure. Personally I think they're a sham.
