Assiging a different alert tone to a contact

G'day,

Is it possible to assign a different alert tone to individual contacts for SMS notifications? I have a particular contact I need to have a really loud and obvious alert tone for all SMS recieved from the number, if possible.

Are you using the stock messaging app or a 3rd party app? The process would be different for each, but I'm pretty sure you can assign a different ringtone for different notifications... Since I recall doing that a time or two for incoming calls. :D

Setting an individual sound file to a specific contact is not available on the stock phone, as far as I have found.

You can do this for an individual email account though.

You cant do it with stock messaging app. but you can do it with a 3rd party app such as handcent. You may be able to use light flow as well. that will give you the ability to set different led colors as well for different contacts.....hoep that helps
