Hi Dorian (and all)
Thanks for all the info on this issue. I also have the same problem and same baseband version as dark star (I9100XXKE4) but am looking at the info you just gave and am really really scared of trying to do it - I dont even know what ODIN is and what is .rar and file hosting?! OMG
I have a feeling I may bugger up my phone completely but if there is no other option I shall have to try this method.

Why don't you just download another music player app from the market and wait for the update to come through Kies? Or look at youtube videos of Odin.

Try using winamp or one of the other mp3 players available in the market.

Makes me kinda glad that I am running firmware that is behind. Or maybe it's because I am using an updated Google music app to sync my music to and from the cloud.

Simple answer - Fix.. I actually have the phone..
Hey guys you don't need to do anything techinical to stop this happening.. thats rubbish... To make it work now just download Winamp.. free version.. works fine 100% of the time.. I had the same problem and read all these guesses at fixes from super smart people.. theres no point.. I should have just downloaded winamp in the first place!!

Got the problem too...
My phone model is GT-I9100M and the Baseband version is I9100MUGKG2.
I got the WinAmp app for free, but I miss the OEM one because unlike all other music apps, it was allowing me to search my MP3 by folders. When all your MP3s are classified by folders, searching by Album or Artist is really useless and annoying.
Hope this bug will be corrected soon.

Does your phone have the current black market? You may want to check into either the Google mp3 or music box.
