email won't sync

    email won't sync

    Hi there, new member & new phone... be gentle!

    Email won't sync unless wi-fi is switched on, any thoughts on what I've missed?

    Are you using the stock client or a 3rd party app like K9Mail?

    Sorry, forgot to say.... think I switched everything off on the stock one and installed K9

    So the problem is with the K9 app? Did you get it from the market or their repository?

    I got it from the market, problem is I think it worked at first but has stopped - I was wondering if it wad a setting I'd accidentally changed. It works fine on my HTC Desire HD.

    I wondered if it might be some kind of battery saving setting when it was getting low so charged it last night but still the same today - without wi-fi connection mail won't sync, at the top of the K9 page it says 'syncing disabled' ???

    Having managed to wrestle the thing from my wife's hands for 10 minutes I've discovered nothing is working without wifi, not facebook or the news feed, nothing that needs a connection. Also there is no Mobile Network section to tick like there is on my HTC - or at least not that I can find... the menus are slightly different!
    Is this normal or could Vodaphone have screwed up the new package on the old sim?
    Help... any thoughts please.

    Settings> Wireless & network settings> scroll down if you don't see it and find Mobile Networks> Data enabled (toggle on and off if it's already checked).

    Now, reboot the phone to reset everything. Update your PRL.

    If it's still glitching then let us know as we might have some more ideas before saying call VodaPhone. Good luck!

    Don't have a data enabled box to tick just data roaming? And what's PRL for us newbies

    Preferred Roaming List. In short, what towers to connect to, what towers not to, to avoid/properly bill roaming charges. Basically you update/reactivate the software on the phone without having to do a reset.

    That's just odd about there being no box. Very, VERY odd. I'd contact Voda and ask them about it as it seems to be on their level.

    I'm assuming you're not rooted or anything.
