Hello Pl help Regarding Firmware
PL Help Firmware upgrade
Hello Everyone
Firstly, I just got an Samsung Galaxy S II I9100. I am pretty much confused regardng what custom firmware i should go on...cauz i see many of them..So i request if any one could suggest me the best one as i hv few isseues with my phone like battery consumption...etc. So in order to solve all this i prefer to upgrade to custom ones. As i am switched from symbian to android & am Expert in Symbian but noob in Android.
I would give you my phone details i purchased it in shanghai.
Model NO : GTI9100
Android Ver : 2.3.3
Baseband Ver : I9100XXKE4
Kernel Version : 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKE7-CL215725root@DELL103 #2
Build No :QUENS.GINGERBREAD.XWKE7
I have installed KIES it says you cannot update your firmware or so...
&
Secondly, I have an WIFI PPPOE dialer at home so i needed an application for it to use in my phone. I found one in here but it says you do not have root permission. I know i should kinda jail break my phone or go for custom firmware. So if any one could help me with this would be appreciated.
Thanks
Regards

I haven't found a firmware yet that lengthens your battery life. What I did was root my phone, installed Titanium Backup, and then froze all system apps that I don't use that run in the background (ie. Social Hub, Reading Hub, System Updater, Wifi Sharing etc). It made my phone even faster and the battery lasts longer. As far as custom firmwares go I tried them all and always end up going back to the original firmware. You could try Miui, Lightening, or CyanogenMod 7.
