Phone Getting Hot All of a Sudden! Samsung Suggestions....Would You Do This?

    Hey Guys!

I have had my Samsung Galaxy 2s for 7 months and I simply adore this phone! Just starting yesterday it got really hot, just in my purse and esp. when I charge it.

I am trippin and really worried! I paid almost $600 for this phone I called customer service at T-Mobile and they suggested to take out the battery for a wee bit. I did ~ made no difference.

Then ~ they want me to do a Master Reset and they gave me directions to save all my contacts to my card thingy. But I will lose all my apps! I can get them all back, right, without paying? I only have like 10 apps if that!

I have 80 pictures on my phone and no music.

I have also heard that we should not go into Task Manager and close out the apps, as this is not needed....but I did, to see if that would help the over heating, but to no avail.

So ~ T-Mobile stated to try this step, and if this does not resolve the issue, they will hook me up with a new phone.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks, Guys!

    Marie

Hi Marie, and welcome to the Forum!

I'm not a tech, and I have the AT&T version of the SGS2, so I can't really help you. However, if you hang on for awhile, one of our Rescue Squad guys will swing by and give you a hand. Alternately, you can post your question on our sister forum Samsung Galaxy Forum - where the Rescue Squad guys may be able to help you faster, because they're very familiar with SGS2 problems and their solutions.

Sometimes you might have a task in the background that's taking up CPU.

Automatic task killers are usually not a good idea with android phones. I understand your point about apps running in the background, but I think there must be a better solution than installing a task killer.

When the phone is charging, are you talking on it at the same time? This will cause the phone to get warm/hot quickly. You are using the power from the battery to operate a handheld radio, which consumes power while charging the battery at the same time. These two actions combined can be serious power consumers, causing the phone to get warm quickly. I suppose it doesn't help that the back of the phone is paper thin.
