Gmail Contacts Not Syncing
Hi,
I need help trying to figure out why Gmail contacts are not syncing. A few months ago while trying to backup to lies, a visible pattern lock screen was enabled and I got locked out. I did a factory reset but was unable to connect the phone to the Gmail account. I created another one. Funny thing was that the old account still worked but I couldn't get in with my phone. So I imported the contacts from the old Gmail account to the new one from my computer. Seemed fine until one month ago I started receiving duplicates and the new Gmail is not syncing contacts. What do I need to check either on my phone or on the main Gmail account? I'd like to root my phone but I'd like to have this issue solved first. Thanks for all your insights.

Go to Settings, Accounts and sync (or something like it, depending on your Android version) choose your email and tick "Contacts".

Hi,
I unchecked then checked contacts. Then I uninstalled Go Contacts and restarted the phone. I tried to resync but I still have the error. What have I missed?

There should also be more options like "auto-sync" or something like that. I can't really remember, because I'm using a highly modified ROM. Also, try clearing the app's cache and data. And turn off your phone, pull out the battery and wait a minute. Then turn it on again. (It sometimes fixes issues regarding Gmail synchronization)

Hi
Sorry for the late reply. I've checked everything and still contacts syncing issue remains. I was wondering, can I still root my phone? It seems the problem is with Google not my phone. Any insight?

Do you see those contacts on your computer and/or other devices? Are your Gmail settings okay? If you've tried everything on your phone, also try to do factory reset. (Be sure to backup your data)
Yes, you can still root your phone.
