I imported my calendar to Google as you explained and it says that out of 268 events only 204 were imported. What happened? They are all in the same calendar.

Try importing them again -- there may have been some transmission errors.

Either duplicate entries or what the other response said. If you have other entries in multiple calendars in iCal, you have to save each separate ics file and import each separately. For example, if you have in iCal a calendar named "Work" and a calendar named "Personal." You have to select one calendar and export it. Then go back to iCal and select the other calendar and export it. You will have two .ics files to be imported into Google.
