The Xperia Play, Sony Ericsson's PlayStation-powered phone, goes on sale next week from Verizon Wireless. And the list of features on this smart phone crossbred with a gaming gadget looks solid:

  • 1 GHz processor
  • 4-inch multi-touch display
  • 5-megapixel rear-facing camera
  • VGA front-facing camera for stills and video chat
  • Adobe Flash Player
  • Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot that shares a 3G connection with up to five devices
  • Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), which of course includes support for Google mobile services including Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, Google Search, Google Maps, and access to more than 200,000 apps available to download from Android Market.

The Xperia play also comes with seven games: Madden NFL 11, Bruce Lee Dragon Warrior, Asphalt 6: Adrenaline, The Sims 3, Star Battalion, Crash Bandicoot and Tetris. And more than 50 other titles are available for purchase through Verizon's V CAST Apps.
