Sprint's new Epic 4G vs the rest

Sprint is getting serious about becoming a major contender in the Android World. The Samsung Epic 4G is the next big star waiting in the wings and Sprint wants you know to exactly how it stacks up against the competition (well, at least spec wise).

    • 3G/4G - Check
    • 4.0" Super AMOLED - Check
    • 1Ghz Hummbird Processor - Check
    • Keyboard - Check
    • Dual Camaras - Check
    • 1500 mAH Battery - Check

Spec for Spec, this phone is going match up very well with the iPhone 4, HTC Incredible, and even the upcoming Motorola Droid X.

I spent some hands-on time with the Sprint Epic 4G last week, and it showed a lot of promise, with one warning. Samsung has slapped their TouchWiz user interface over Android 2.1, and I couldn't immediately figure out what it offered other than pointlessly altered icons and a slower upgrade cycle than standard Android 2.1.
Wonder if you can turn it off like you can with Sense UI?

Like many of us who are always looking online at new phones and upgrades i have seen some videos on the Epic. First i'm not sure if i like the cheese wiz ui (lol) and i have never liked slide out keyboards. On the other hand the screen is just amazing. In my opinion its in the same league as the always nice looking screen of the iphone.

I'll be sticking with my Evo thank you :-)

    Epic is better
It's got a better processor and a potentially better screen, but that's really it. Samsung's TouchWiz interface just plain sucks, their products usually have inferior build quality and feel cheap, and I think the phone itself is hideous and looks cheap. I'm also not a fan of hardware keyboards but that's not why I dislike the phone. Also a HUGE part of what makes a phone good is it's developer community, and I doubt the Epic will have the dev support that the EVO has already.

I could be proved wrong when it comes out but I honestly doubt it.
