I am pretty sure it applies to the whole family plan but if you are upgrading to all iphones, it'll apply only to the voice part of it i think, not the data

I don't know if the timing will be different because you are getting an iphone but for me I got a confirmation email within 48 hours that the discount had been applied and that it will show up on the 2nd or 3rd billing cycle

I am glad I waited and did not get my iphone 4S with Sprint... after reading reviews I think that I am going to go with verizon even though the plan will be more expensive.
