i believe rooting your N1 will introduce you to wifi tethering..I have used both and since I didnt want to pay for pda net or some of the others...I rooted to have wifi tethering because the android tether by USB dropped the signal a lot.

PDANet does WIRELESS tethering via bluetooth, too. And it's worth its cost many times over.

Bluetooth wifi tether? I didn't know that... So for example does your laptop have to also have bluetooth for this to work?

Yes your laptop has to have blue-tooth too. If it doesn't then you can buy a usb blue-tooth adapter too.

The Wifi Tether I use needs no adapters and requires no Bluetooth...

What if your laptop didn't have BT? You would seriously go buy a BT adapter? Or use the one that requires no adapter? That's all Im Sayin...
