    Cool Htc Inspire info needed

Hello, I am new to the Android side of smartphones. I just getting use to my device. I came from the dark side bearing a fruit based os smartphone. I have a question I am running 2.2.1 on my device, do I need or is it recommended that I use a task manager or task killer on my phone. And why or why not to your answer! Thanks so much guys for your time. Please be patient as I am a newbie.

It's pretty debatable. You'll find those who swear it is a necessity, and those who say it does more harm than good. I would try something like Watchdog Lite. It gives you more control over Advanced Task Killer, yet can do the same thing if you need it to.

If you're rooted, try Autokiller Memory Optimizer. What it does is set Android's core up to kill off apps more aggressively, negating the need for a manual task killer. I've found that it works really great! Especially if you use your browser a lot. Using your browser with flash enabled takes up a minimum of 17-18MB of RAM. If Autokiller has set memory limits, it kills off the browser shortly after you stop using it.

    BTW... welcome to the forum!
Don't know why I didn't see this thread before?! Thanks Junker88 for posting to it!

There are lengthy discussions over on Droid Forums and xda-developers forum on this very topic. The consensus seems to be that the android os does not require or need task killers. You may want to check out those threads, when you've got some time on your hands - they're pretty long.
