    HTC wireless wep hotspot mobile internet question

    I setup my password for the wep key on the htc inspire 4G wireless but it not let me connect tp the wep for some reason i put in the right key.But when i turn it to open it work?Could it be my pc card don't support it?

    Could be. Sometimes WEP ad-hoc isn't supported. But I'm not sure what mode the HTC hotspot uses... ad-hoc or infrastructure. Either way, WEP isn't friendly with older wireless cards. If your laptop is using an older WiFi card, it might now support WEP encryption.

    WEP is really old. It was the "original" protection on WiFi: https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikiped...valent_Privacy

    Most stuff uses WPA or WPA2 these days: https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikiped...otected_Access

    I don't think that the phone even uses WEP for the hot-spot security as it has been broken and is no longer a secure method of protecting a Wf-Fi access point (in reality it turns out that it never was).
