Reprogram a Garminfone T-Mobile phone (US) to use on Videotron ?

Hi,
Because I like the Garmin-Asus A50 phone I have on Videotron in Canada, I tought I could simply buy a T-Mobile Garminfone (identical to T50), get it unlocked, insert my Videotron SIM card and use it up here on another network (Videotron).

Problems:

• Apparently, the frequency and protocols for 3G are not the same for T-Mobile and Videotron. Switching SIM does not make the phone fully compatible. Currently, I can only use the voice, not internet 3G.
• Original T-Mobile Android flavor won't upgrade to current Android OS level provided on Garmin's website.

Question:

• Could I force some sort of firmware upgrade that could make my phone compatible with Videotron and possibly Plain vanilla OS upgrade from Garmin web site ? Android 2.1 (Éclair Update) - 323Mb This works fine on my Garmin Nuvifone A50.
